Chateau La Rivalerie, AOC Premieres Cotes de Blaye, this wine was described during the Prestige Sommelier tasting at Vinexpo, Bordeaux as “magnificent” and Silver medal at the Concours Mondial in Brussels in 2006. 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc/Malbec grapes, this 2004 wine has a beautiful bright red colour with purple tints. The aromas are reminiscent of black and red berries with a hint of pepper. The tannins are soft and the finish is long and pleasant. Goes well with red meat and roasted lamb.
The Bonarccosi family bought this vineyard in 1997. Situated by the Garonne River, north of Bordeaux, the vineyard and the buildings necessitated some restoring which the family worked very hard to do and by so re-establish the reputation this chateau had a long time ago. Getting a silver award from Decanter was the first important accolade they received, and now they are finally building their stock with exceptional wines.
