Chateau La Rivalerie, AOC Premieres Cotes de Blaye, this wine was commended by Decanter and got a bronze award at the International Wine Challenge in 2006. 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc/Malbec grapes, this 2003 wine has been matured in oak barrels. Deep with toasted aromas, packed with fruity notes, complex with a good structure, it is a vintage which can be drunk now or kept for a few years. Good with game, red meat and strong cheeses.
The Bonaccorsi family bought this vineyard in 1997. Situated by the Garonne River, north of Bordeaux, the vineyard and the buildings necessitated some restoring which the family worked very hard to do and by so re-establish the reputation this chateau had a long time ago. Jerome Bonaccorsi is a young up coming winemaker who certainly starts to make noises in the right quarters!
